Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Snaplore (“Snaplore,” “we”) collects, uses and protects your information when you use the Snaplore app. We only collect what we need to provide the service. We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Snaplore, Türkiye. For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account data. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive a unique identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address and display name. If you use Sign in with Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only ever see the relay address.
- Photos & prompts. The images you capture in the app and any text you submit to generate an explanation, together with the place you selected.
- Support messages. What you send us by email when you ask for help.
Information collected automatically
- Location. If you grant the permission, the app reads your device’s approximate coordinates while you are using it and sends them to our server once, to look up nearby places to suggest. We do not store those coordinates against your account and we never track your location in the background. You can refuse or revoke the permission at any time in your device settings and pick your place from the list instead.
- Usage data. Scans performed, places viewed, language preference, credit balance and purchase history.
- Device data. A device identifier we generate for anonymous sessions, app version and basic technical logs (including IP address) used for reliability, rate limiting and abuse prevention.
We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track you.
3. Why we use your information, and our legal basis
- To provide the App — generating explanations, showing your scan history, managing credits and subscriptions. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To use your camera and location — capturing the photo you ask us to explain and suggesting the place you are in. Legal basis: your consent, given through the device permission prompt; you can withdraw it in device settings.
- To keep the service safe and working — security, fraud and abuse prevention, debugging, capacity planning. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a reliable, non-abused service.
- To meet legal obligations — accounting and tax records for purchases, responding to lawful requests. Legal basis: legal obligation.
4. AI processing
To produce an explanation, the photo and related prompt are sent to third-party AI providers (currently Google and Anthropic) that run the vision and language models. These providers process the data on our behalf, under their enterprise API terms, to return a result. We do not use your photos or prompts to train our own models, and our providers’ API terms do not permit them to train their models on this data.
5. How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with:
- AI model providers (Google, Anthropic) — to generate explanations;
- Hosting and storage providers (Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare) — to run our servers and store photos and data;
- Purchase processing (Apple, Google Play, RevenueCat) — to sell, validate and restore purchases and subscriptions;
- Sign-in providers (Apple, Google) — to authenticate you;
- Legal & safety — when required by law or to protect rights, safety and security, and in connection with a merger or acquisition, in which case we will tell you.
6. Data retention
- Photos and generated explanations are kept so you can revisit your scan history. When you delete your account, the history and the generated explanations are erased along with every link between the captured image files and you; the image files themselves are retained in anonymised form, with nothing left that ties them to you, to your account or to any other person.
- Anonymous session data (device identifier and free-credit balance) is kept while the device stays active and removed after a prolonged period of inactivity.
- Technical logs are kept for a short period (typically up to 30 days) for security and debugging.
- Purchase and accounting records are retained for as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after account deletion, in a form scrubbed of your name and email.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account and its data at any time from within the app, under Settings → Delete account. Deletion erases your scan history, your email, your display name and your provider identifier, and anonymises the captured images by destroying every link between them and you. See our account deletion page for the exact steps and for what is kept for legal reasons. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. In the EEA/UK these come from the GDPR; in Türkiye from the KVKK (Law No. 6698); in California from the CCPA/CPRA — and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]; we answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in Türkiye, the KVKK Board).
9. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted storage for photos, access controls and secrets kept out of the app binary — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union, where our service providers operate. Where data leaves the EEA, the UK or Türkiye, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the providers’ equivalent transfer commitments.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted; we will update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app.
